Roman Blinds Measuring Guide
Roman blinds can be fitted inside a window recess or outside it. Before you begin to measure you need to decide on one of these options.
Fitting inside a recess/opening
For a blind fitted inside the window recess, the width of the blind is the width of the opening less 1cm (in total).
The length of the blind is the length of the window opening from top to bottom.
Fitting outside a recess
For a blind fitted outside the window recess, the width of the blind is either the width of the sill, or the width of the window recess plus 5-10 cm added on each side.
The recommended length of the blind is the length from the window sill or the floor to the top edge of the window recess plus around 30-35 cm (this is optional, but minimum 15 cm). An open blind is around 30 cm long, so fitting it around 30cm above the window will allow for easy opening of the window when the blind is fully open.
